Students from the Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise – BA (Hons) Accounting, BA (Hons) International Business and MBA Masters of Business Administration – took to a mock assessment centre at RSM Preston.
RSM is a leading provider of audit, tax and consulting services to middle market leaders, globally. They offer various graduate positions and welcomed the opportunity to meet and network with UCLan students. The students partook in a number of activities including a real-life industry case study and the opportunity to meet the different departments across RSM Preston.
The event was the first time RSM have worked with UCLan and it was a great success with RSM hoping to make this an annual event and the students expressing to their lecturers the day was “insightful and informative” and stating how much they would like to work for RSM in the future!
This was a wonderful opportunity for students to gain some hands-on assessment skills, networking and the free lunch wasn’t a bad touch either!
What the students said:
Rachael Scott – “I found the event very useful, it taught me what to expect at an assessment centre and also with me own personal development. Networking in the organisation was useful for future applications within the organisation.”
Anisah Khan – “I thought the trip to RSM with the mock assessment, group activity and a networking lunch was a brilliant way to get to understand the process of searching for placements/ graduate opportunities, from the perspective of an employer, giving us an insight into what to expect and how to tackle each situation. It was very helpful to hear what the recruiters themselves are looking for, concerning skills on the day of the interview. Overall, an extremely valuable experience that equips us for our future career!”
