Alexandre Andresciani, who studied International Business Communication tells us about his time on the degree course and life after graduation.
The partnership between UCLan and Université Paul Verlaine in France gave Alexandre the opportunity to come and study in the UK.
“I wanted to have an academic experience abroad in order to improve my language skills in English and pursue my courses in my field of study, which was business and marketing.”
After graduating in 2012, Alexandre returned to France to continue his studies in marketing.
“I joined the French Business School in Rennes in order to follow an MSc in International Marketing so that I could really have a focus on marketing techniques in an international environment.”
In his current job, Alexandre works as a social media manager for Amazon France. “I am responsible for the social media promotion of the new video on demand platform Amazon Prime Video.”
“During my academic path, I learned an important set of skills in managing business and marketing in an international environment. Those skills allowed me to do my final internship in a French company in Milan – Atout France – where I was in charge of assisting the marketing director in developing business offers to our French clients, so that they could promote their services in a foreign market.
This is where I first worked on digital channels with the implementation of display campaigns on various websites. I choose to follow this path and look for my first job in digital marketing, and this is where I was able to join Coca-Cola as a community manager. I then evolved as a social media manager where I was in charge of developing social media strategies for the Coca-Cola digital channels. After three years at this position, I had the opportunity to go and work on a new project for Amazon.”
Alexandre tells us that he is proud of his achievements of working in huge companies and working on top class projects such as EURO 2016 for Coca-Cola.
For anyone looking to do something similar, this is the advice he would give:
“Digital marketing offers great opportunities. If you want to succeed in this field, then try and learn from the people around you, as in social media, you have to deal with customers in one-to-one conversations.”
Talking about his time at UCLan, Alexandre explains how working with different people in groups was important to learning how to deal with different backgrounds and cultures. He tells us about his experience at the university as a whole:
“It helped me to be more open-minded, a better team member, and understand the peaks of working in an international environment, which are skills that I use daily in my current position.”
