The Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise (LSBE) celebrated great success in the 9th Annual Golden Roses Teaching Awards (2018)

Each year, we come together to praise the remarkable staff at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) with the completely student-led awards, from nomination to presentation.

The awards give students the opportunity to ‘give back’ and thank staff who have positively impacted on their academic and overall experience in a variety of categories including – but not limited to – the ‘Outstanding Feedback Award’, ‘Postgraduate Support Award’ and ‘Real World Learning Award’.

Last year, LSBE triumphed with a total of two nominations and two wins, as seen in our earlier blog post: ‘School of Business Success!’

This year was no exception with the School being shortlisted for seven awards!

Peter Ashfield was nominated for ‘Equality and Diversity’ and ‘Creative Teaching’ awards, Carley Sutton was nominated for the ‘Real World Learning’ award, David Hanley was also nominated for the ‘Creative Teaching’ award, Anna Maria Sherrington and Andrew Smerdon were nominated for the coveted ‘Lecturer of the Year’ award and finally; LSBE was nominated for the ‘School of the Year’ award.

LSBE are absolutely ecstatic to announce that we won a total of three awards this year!

🏆 Peter Ashfield – Creative Teaching Award

Peter voiced his gratitude to his students for the wonderful accolade:

“I’m honored and humbled by this, it motivated me to do even more for our students”

🏆 Anna Maria Sherrington – Lecturer of the Year Award

Likewise, Maria expresses how receiving the award is definitely a highlight in her career:

“Being the recipient of this award feels very special to me and gives me the inspiration to carry on what I’m doing”

🏆 Lancashire School of Business and Enterprise – Highly Commended for School of the Year

Professor and Executive Dean Chris Pyke, spoke on behalf of the School:

“We put students at the heart of what we do, we want to support them and inspire them”

We are immensely proud of all our staff for contributing to the Schools success and of course, the students for the overwhelming votes.

Looks like a successful night all round! 👌
